Easter 2010

Sorry for the late post. Only a few pics here but I thought I'd share them anyway.

Vavo and Vavoo were here for Luke's easter, and we all dyed eggs the day before and then Luke went to go hunt them in the morning! It was Luke's first time dying eggs (and Nai's too)! Not sure if we took video of the egg hunt but I'll see if I can post that too if we did. Enjoy!

Took this video today of Luke. There's an iPhone application I have on my phone that he really enjoys playing.

Luke's Vocabulary

Here's a quick update with some of the words Luke (sort of) knows and how he says them.

- Luke says "Please" ("peez") and "thank you" ("dankoo") and knows the difference between the two. For example, if he wants some food, and you ask "What do you say?" He'll say "peez!" If you give it to him and say "What do you say?" He'll say "dankoo!" And he's even getting to the point where he'll say it on his own.
- When Luke messes up or does something on accident, he'll say "Oops! Sorry!"
- Luke knows the names of lots of fruits ("foot"). He knows strawberries ("saw-beez"), bananas ("nana"), apples ("ah-poos"), mangoes ("man-gones") and oranges ("onge").
- Luke knows other foods as well. Bread ("bed"), chicken ("teekin"), rice ("wass"), milk ("meeuk"), water ("wa-uh") and juice ("deuce").
- Luke tells us when he's hungry ("hun-gee") and when he wants to eat ("eat").
- Luke knows trains ("choo-choo") and always wants to watch them go by our apartment. He knows cars ("caw"), bikes ("bike") and trees ("chee").
- Luke knows the alphabet song. According to him, it goes like this...
"A B D D E F D... K Ky K K K K K... Koo Ah S, Y and Z... Now I now I A D D, K K K K K K K. Yay!!!"
- Luke knows how say grace. He folds his hands and waits for me to say the prayer, then makes the sign of the cross at the end and says "Amen!"
- Luke lets us know when he farted ("uh-oh... faw-ted!") but doesn't know the difference between "poo poo" and "pee pee" yet.
- Luke knows how to count to 10, but for some reason gets stuck on the number 3. If you don't tell him what comes after 2, he won't figure it out. Instead he'll say "1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2..."
- Luke knows what the TV is ("tee-pee") and knows how to turn it on and watch Nick Jr.
- Luke has trouble pronouncing any word with an "L" in it. He'll just leave it out. This includes his own name ("Oook").
- Luke knows clothes: shirt ("sert"), diaper ("die-poo"), pants ("pass"), socks ("sock"), shoes ("choo"), jacket ("da-ket"), even crocs ("koks").
- Luke says "ah-sight" when he wants to go outside.

Snow in Austin!

A while back it snowed in Austin for one day! It was Luke's first time seeing snow. Nai got a bit of it on video while I was at work... Enjoy!

Wild Basin

A week after Luke's birthday we went to a nearby park called Wild Basin. It was a beautiful day out, and Luke had a blast! Here's some pictures of the trip.

Luke's 2nd Birthday

February 14th was Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year, and most importantly, Luke's 2nd birthday! He's been a very good boy so we got him a nice big chocolate cake and took some video. Enjoy!

Heddo?

The other day I called home because I was going to be working late. No one picked up, but a few minutes later I got a call from Nai's cell phone.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Heddo?" It was Luke. Nai must have handed him the phone. Luke is learning to talk; Nai has been trying to get Luke to talk to me on the phone whenever I call. When he's on the phone he says "Heddo?" a lot, since that's one of the only words he knows.

"Hi Luke."

"Dad dad." Luke also always thinks that I'm the one on the phone. He will say "Dad" and "Heddo?" no matter what.

After a few more minutes of saying "Heddo?" back and forth, I finally told him, "Okay, give the phone to Mommy now." Silence. "Hello?"

"Heddo?"

"Give the phone to Mommy."

I hear some rustling on the other end, and then Nai's sleepy, tired voice. "Luke? Who are you talking to on the phone?"

Nai was sleeping. Luke was the one who called me back, and he gave the phone to Nai afterward.
